The Valais, Garden of Eden, offers you its finest pears

Area of origin: Canton of Valais

Composition: pears contain vitamins and mineral salts, with few calories.

Appearance, taste/flavour: soft, juicy and fragrant.

Production: the Valais brand guarantees conformity with the size, colouration and sugar content as well as adherence to strict social and environmental norms.

To enjoy: Plain or cooked. Leaving them for one or two days at room temperature before eating enables their flavour and aroma to become fully developed.

Seasonality: mid July to March

Conditions and length of preservation: pears are delicate fruits which should not be bruised during transportation. They will keep for a few days at room temperature and for a few weeks in a cool, dark storage room.

The Williams pear is the most common variety to be found in the Valais. It is also used in the production of the excellent AOC Valais pear eau-de-vie. (FR/DE)
