What's agritourism ?
In Switzerland, particularly in the Valais, agritourism is experiencing farming at first hand in the form of on-site stays, as well as flavours and discoveries related to the region and the artisans of the land. Discover for yourself this form of responsible, sustainable tourism, which prioritizes meeting people who work on the land and consuming local products.
Holidays close to nature
Our families of farmers and produce makers offer various types of accommodation, ranging from rural guest houses to bed & breakfast, from an apartment on an estate to a chalet on an alpine pasture with a bed in the hay.
Regional flavours and delicacies
The Valaisian farmers and produce makers, and very often the women of the household, will take great pleasure in preparing your breakfast, or a speciality of the region; or organizing a tasting session with commentary, a farm brunch, even showing you the cheese-making process. Most sites offer the possibility of buying products directly from the producer at farm-based prices.
Discovery tours and rural events
Our calendar of regional events offers you various activities and opportunities for discovery, such as theme markets, battles between the queens of the herds of Hérens cows, cattle drives up to and down from the alpine pastures, Open Cellar Days etc. A wonderful opportunity to get to know the farmers, the wine growers and their rural traditions.
